Our Guest Room & Sources

Welcome to the guest room. I’ve shared bits and pieces over the last few months, but never the entire space in one post. I hope this is helpful if you are looking for sources or inspiration for a quick bathroom upgrade. The space is quite neutral but I’ve used pattern and texture throughout. Sometimes I get the urge to go bold, but for now we are going to keep it calm and relaxing.

BE OUR GUEST

When we moved, we brought this bed and console table with us. It was wonderful to be able to reuse these pieces. The upholstered bed was from Costco years ago. What makes me happy is that this room has already hosted so many visitors. Moving across the country isn’t easy and a dedicated guest room was top of my list when house hunting. That was a non-negotiable and I am so happy we stick with that. Even last minute visitors are welcome because this room is always ready.

My grandfather, who I cherished, was a builder and this was his surveyor’s box. I love seeing his handwriting on the inside.

The artwork is a set from Etsy and I had it printed at Staples. The man printing them could not believe the quality of the artwork. I highly recommend this set. A great neutral palette and so clear. The frames are from here and blend so well with the artwork. But you can choose whichever size you like and have the art printed to fit any frame.

The green stems are a go-to. We also have them on my kitchen island. I just love the color green and they look very artistic in any vase (this is the set of fours stems). They are quite long so which allows you to use an even taller vase or bend the stems. The jug is no longer sold but this vase has a similar feel.

The nightstands have been great for guests. I did paint the hardware gold. I would like to get taller lamps but am still on the hunt because I don’t want the base to take up too much room on the nightsands. The glass lamps were a HomeGoods find. The JuJu hat above the bed is hand crafted and adds a nice amount of texture. A curved bed can be tricky when it comes to decorating above it so I always like something round. A round mirror works well, too.

The Boll & Branch sheets are splurge but they get softer with every wash. And they are 100% organic and such high quality.

The drapery panels were a much needed addition as they have a blackout liner. This room is flooded with sunlight in the morning which isn’t great for guests on west coast time. And they are so easy to open and close thanks to glide tape (clear tape that sits on top of the rod). Our go-to drapery rod is a steal.

The full length mirror was a HomeGoods find. We also have a set of hooks mounted to the wall for purses, jackets, etc.

A FUN SURPRISE

I went bold in the closet which was a fun project. This particular paper is no longer sold (and I sent my last roll to a reader) but this post rounded up 12 beautiful peel and stick options). The luggage rack has come in handy and I highly recommend for a guest room.

THE BATHROOM

The adjoining bathroom got a bit of a face lift (see the full project and sources here). We know we didn’t want to gut the bathroom but it needed a few updates. It’s amazing what new lighting, mirrors, and hardware can do for a space.

We have one of these baskets in every bathroom. They have been wonderful.

To all of our family and friends, the bed is comfy and the door is always open. In the drawer of the nightstand we have a journal for guests to write a little note which we treasure. A fun addition if you host guests often.
